Capture your memories forever
Everybody has a favourite something! A favourite memory! A pet – their first car – their ship – a street from their childhood days – a train from when they wore an anorak – aircraft from their squadron – a loved one!!!!!! The list is as endless as there are people – every favourite or memory is both unique and personal. How would you like that to come to life in an original oil painting which you can cherish for ever and ever? - Memory Lane Art can make that memory come to life for you. Commemorate special moments with our bespoke art commissions.
Take a moment to look through the gallery, and, if we have whetted your appetite get in touch for more information. Memory Lane Art is not a collection of artists from some far away land churning out commercial paintings with different artists adding their own parts to a collective painting but is personal in all its dealings, dedicated to producing paintings which will be special to you, and you alone. Memory Lane Art will take your photograph and faithfully reproduce it, as close as the photo will allow, in oils on canvas, or other medias if requested, for you to frame and cherish in the fullness of time. If you do not have a photo then we can, on occasions, assist in finding a suitable image which can be used as a model for the painting.
Subjects

Typical subjects covered include:
Aviation,
Marine subjects and ships,
Railway,
Cars, trucks and all road transport,
Street scenes (particularly historical),
Historical buildings,
Pets - dogs, cats, horses and all other pets,
Portraits - loved ones, grandchildren, action sports etc., and
Any other subject which is special to you.
Whereas, the above subjects are most welcome, any subject can be considered, and we will also contact you to gain any personal reminiscences of the subject matter to ensure the accuracy which you need.
Memory Lane Art will tackle any subject if you provide a suitable photograph, or we can try to obtain one on your behalf, subject to copyright restrictions.
Size
Paintings can be completed to any size which you require but we recommend that you confine the choice to readily available canvas sizes to avoid excessive cost. For non-standard sizes there would also be additional non-refundable deposits. We can guide as to the sizes available at the time and they are available in both square and oblong formats.
Mediums
Memory Lane artists can work in a variety of mediums and styles for you to choose from. Samples of works in the different mediums are shown in the gallery.
Oils or Acrylics – normally done on either stretched canvas or canvas boards depending upon size.
Within this medium we can offer monotone paintings which can be very atmospheric as opposed to full colour works.
We can also use pallet knives rather than brushes to give a very textured painting which is perfect for some subjects.
Water Colour – is not a preferred medium but is available, on quality water colour paper, should you request for a particular effect.
Pen and Ink – completed on good quality paper. Size is much more flexible in this medium as we are able to vary the paper size.
Pencil Drawing – on paper sizes up to A2.
Work will be on good quality sketching paper.
The Process

Receipt
We receive your photograph and take a photocopy to start the reproduction process. Alternatively you can supply us with a digital image which should be of high enough definition to be able to pick out the salient points of the subject.
Watch your painting grow
The finished work will not happen in one day and will take some time depending upon the complexity of the painting, necessary time for drying and other work at the time.
Most paintings will involve a considerable amount of work and time and cannot be hurried, no matter how desperate you are to receive the finished article.
If desired, Memory Lane Art can provide you with updates of how your painting is progressing, so that you can, at least take comfort from the progress.
Consultation
Sometimes photos, particularly older photos are not clear, in all respects, and we will consult with you should any particular area prove testing, or if you can, at the outset, provide specific background information.
Corrections
If possible, and only if possible, without destroying the general ambience of the painting, we are able to make corrections to the finished article – perhaps you see an angle that doesn’t appear right or the colour is different from what you imagined, then we are happy to try to rectify. Note however, that during the consultations and progress reports we hope that these could be sorted out before the final viewing as it becomes progressively more difficult to correct as the painting nears completion.
Finished
The work is yours to enjoy for ever and ever.
Pricing

Memory Lane Art have a completely unconventional approach to remuneration for the work which they do. We believe that people who contract with us to have a photograph transformed into a loved work of art have an inherent sense of fairness and they will reward the artist for the joy that the finished article brings to them.
Our pricing system is very simple.
On requesting a painting you will be required to make an non-refundable deposit based on the size of the work requested (note the additional deposit for non-standard sizes). This is to cover the costs of materials and has no reflection on the work involved.
Prices are based on approximate size of the work.
Medium Approx. A4 Approx. A3 Approx. A2 Above A2
Oil / Acrylic £6.00 £8.50 £14.00 On request
Water £3.00 £4.50 Not available Not available
Pen and Ink / Pencil £3.00 £4.50 £6.00 On request
On completion you have the option of rejecting the work, in which case Memory Lane Art adopts the work as their own and you have no further commitment.
If you decide to accept the work a minimum price will apply which will in some way, but far from fully, compensate for the many hours of work which has gone into the painting. We will advise you of the minimum price before you place the order.
Beyond the minimum pricing – you decide the remuneration which you want to pay for the painting!
For every £1 you pay above the minimum price we shall donate £0.25 to a charity relevant to the subject matter –
Aviation subjects – The RAF Benevolent Fund
Marine Subjects – The Missions to Seamen
Pet Subjects – The Dogs Trust
Other Subjects – The Scottish Charity Air Ambulance
There are no sour grapes – our initial objective was to bring you pleasure – if we didn’t - we failed both you and us, but if we did, we hope that you will share that pleasure by rewarding us accordingly.
As simple as that!!!!

Subjects Covered
Memory Lane Art will tackle any subject if you provide a suitable photograph, or we can obtain one on your behalf, subject to copyright restrictions. However, artists tend to be more comfortable with subject matter in which they have a direct interest and affinity towards.
The father is involved technically both with all types of transport subjects and street scenes whilst the daughter has a particular talent for portraits of pets and people.
Whereas, the above subjects are most welcome, any subject can be considered, and we will also contact you to gain any personal reminiscences of the subject matter to ensure the accuracy which you need.

Framing
Memory Lane Art do not frame any of the works they carry out. Framing can be expensive, and many customers will prefer to choose the framing which they consider best suits the finished work, the surroundings of where the painting will be exhibited and their budget.
Normally we would not offer any service for framing but upon request we can provide a quotation for the same.
Shop
Memory Lane artists also paint for their own pleasure – subjects they find interesting. Finished paintings and prints may become available for sale. Such works are posted regularly in the products section with a fixed price. Pictures and prints from other artists may be available as seen and priced.
